ANA INSPIRATION

In September of 2020, during a global pandemic and devastating California wildfires, NBC/Golf pulled off an LPGA golf tournament with ease, and I was there to help make it a reality.

The Tournament

The ANA Inspiration is one of the five Major championships of professional women’s golf. It is an event on the LPGA Tour, and is held yearly at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.

This historic Major, postponed from its traditional March date, was played without spectators for the 49th edition of the tournament.  That added additional challenges to our programing as well.

The Area

Palm Springs is a desert resort city in Riverside County, California, within the Colorado Desert‘s Coachella Valley. The city is located near the famous Joshua Tree National Park.

About the winner

The 2020 ANA Inspiration final leaderboard is headed by winner Mirim Lee earning her first LPGA title and first major championship title.

Lee made an eagle 3 by chipping in on the final hole of regulation , finishing on 15-under 273 along with Nelly Korda and Brooke Henderson.

In the playoff, Lee was the only player to make birdie on the par-5 18th, earning the win and the major title.
