Pier Productions Completes New Animated Project

We don’t, by any means, pretend to be an “animation house”, however we have the pleasure of dabbling in that magical world from time to time. Last year, for the Nashville based StudioNow, we edited a music video for Brooks and Dunn that featured a marriage of animation and live action. That piece went on to win a contest held on behalf of the band and aired on the CMT channel.

Now, we’ve found ourselves in that realm once again as we’ve just finished a piece for the L. A. based publishing company called Chronicle Books. The art provided for the video was so vibrant and fun, the piece was simply a joy to work on. Click here to see the final results.

As our client list continues to grow larger, we’ve had more and more requests to see a “demo” of our work, so we’ve put together not just one, but two demos to showcase our talents. First up, the overall Pier Productions show reel that features some of our more recent work, including work we did for Star Wars Weekends and Tupperware. It merely scratches the surface of our abilities, but it’ll give you a good well-rounded sense of who we are and what we do.

Second up, we put together an editor reel of work by our Senior Editor, Christopher Weed. Christopher has been editing for nearly 18 years and has the pleasure of working with some of the most talented and creative people in the business. This demo features work for the Jim Henson Company, NBC, ABC, The View, Kennedy Space Center and the Travel Channel. So, head over to our Portfolio section and check them out. With the recent increase in clients and jobs, Pier Productions has decided to expand and upgrade our current arsenal of technology. Our main Avid is being upgraded to a 64 bit operating system and increased ram as well as 3 terabytes of hard drive space all to take care of our ever increasing high definition work.

Krull dvdrip Furthermore, we’ve added a second backup Avid/DVD Authoring station to handle our huge demand for DVDs, Quicktimes, and WMV files. This system, also 64 bit, sports a Windows 7 operating system, a 24 inch monitor and a whopping 9 gigs of ram, as well as another 2 terabytes of drive space. Connected over our high speed network, the two machines will increase our productivity which is needed with our growing workload.

Finally, out with the old standard definition monitors and in with a new HDMI, wall mounted high def monitor. These upgrades simply reflect our core values of providing the best possible product at the best possible price and we look forward to announcing future expansion in the coming months.

and Spalding Entertainment, management company for Brooks and Dunn, sponsored a music video contest for “Tequila” from Brooks and Dunn’s latest release, “Cowboy Town“.

On Thursday it was announced that Pier Productions would take the top prize with “Two Worm Tango

“, a mixed-media piece that utilizes HD video, 2-D and 3-D animation and advanced compositing. It tells the story of Two Worm Tango tequila in which the worms come to life and go on an unforgettable adventure. “We couldn’t be more pleased or excited about the outcome” said Beth Schultz, President of Pier Productions.

With just over a week and no budget to work with, Pier Productions produced the video with the help of 2-D animator Bob Duane

Pier Productions co-owner, Christopher Weed edited and composited the video and posted it with only hours to spare “It was a very tight deadline and we all worked long hours on it but the result was well worth it”. The video will air on the GAC channel in the coming weeks.

Gearing up for Star Wars Weekends 2009!

At Pier Productions we are spending the week gearing up for our fourth year of editing videos that will be featured during Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Heck, when we started editing these it was The Disney/MGM Studios! Christopher has actually edited these for the past 10 years. It is probably his most fulfilling project as Star Wars is his biggest passion. Since then we have met or worked with many of the Star Wars insiders including but not limited to; Rob Coleman (Visual Effects Supervisor), Warwick Davis (Wicket from Return of the Jedi) and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO)

This year promises to be another good one. With the start of Star Wars: The Clones Wars on Cartoon Network Savage Grace trailer Fools Gold download Young Mr. Lincoln psp Cahill U.S. Marshal dvd there will be new actors to meet and greet. Pier Productions, Inc. was recently invited to enter a contest to create a music video for county duo Brooks & Dunn’s song “Tequila” from their latest album, Cowboy Town

. The contest was brought to the Nashville based internet video company, StudioNow by artist management company, Spalding Entertainment. Contestants were by invitation only and Pier Productions was one of the companies invited to participate.

The deadline of 1 week and 2 days was tight and of course we set the bar high for ourselves. With help from 2-D animator, Bob Duane (Funny Business Studio) and 3-D artist, Patrick Schultz we created a world where 2 tequila worms come to life, struggle with “bad guy” worms, a car chase ensues and ultimately the good guys prevail and live happily ever after. Ok, it sounds, well different, when you read it here but it’s a fun song and required a little thinking out of the box. After, several late nights for all of us we made the dealine and submitted the video. Now we wait. Whatever the outcome of the contest the project was great fun and definitely a learning experience.

and Fishing Guide Service he called us. After all, who better to produce a fishing video than a company call Pier Productions?

The production of the video went beautifully and smoothly. The weather was cooperative and working with Captain Jim and his team couldn’t be easier. They know their business so well it made our job very easy. We set out on a beautiful, if not a little chilly Tuesday morning. Upon arrival we shot the fishing portion of the video and there were lots of large mouth bass cooperating with us! I don’t know if the fishing guides learned anything about video but we picked up a few fishing tips along the way!

After a quick lunch, Christopher continued with the airboat portion of the video. If you have never taken an airboat ride it is certainly an adventure not to be missed. On Lake Toho there is plenty of wildlife to be seen and even some domestic animals. There are many types of birds including Sandhill Cranes and Coots, there are alligators and it is not uncommon to see a horse or cow wading in the flooded pastures.

Since we couldn’t resist the opportunity for a sunset shot, (Captain Jim offers sunset airboat tours) we returned on Saturday evening to cruise on the airboat and capture the breathtaking views offered by the Florida sunset.

As post production continues the video is coming together very nicely and will serve Orlando Fishing Guide Directory and A Orlando Airboats well. Check back when we have added the completed videos to our demo.

The Snows of Kilimanjaro trailer Recently, Pier Productions, Inc. was hired to document the 2008 Jubilee Celebration for Tupperware here in Orlando. Nearly 4,000 members of the Tupperware sales force assembled in Orlando for the annual sales convention.

My First Wedding movie Consultants from around the country spent three days celebrating their accomplishments, learning about new products, and sharing personal stories and successes with one another. The week was capped off by an appearance by Tupperware spokeswoman Brooke Shields who provided inspiring words and announced a brand new product launch. In addition to the shining stars of the sales force and Brooke Shields, best-selling author, Dan Millman was on hand this year to share his insights on success and business as well as a performance of the Jubilee-opening song by Joanna Pacitti of Broadway’s Legally Blonde fame.
